Рождественские подарочки

В этом году со мной произошло необыкновенное событие - я нашла группу удивительных людей, занимающихся Шотландскими танцами. У меня в голове не укладывалось, что некоторые из них возраста моего дедушки, а танцевать многие из них начали задолго до того как я родилась! Эти люди приняли меня в свой коллектив так радушно и помогали мне с нуля осваивать это новое для меня дело так терпеливо, что я поняла - я остаюсь с ними надолго! И для нескольких моих новых друзей в этом танцевальном коллективе я сделала маленькие Рождественские подарочки - текстильные закладки для книг.

  Елочки вышиты свободной стежкой на основе из валяной шерсти. Закладочки получились такие мягкие и теплые, так и хочется их все время трогать:)

Фигурная стежка на белом, прозрачный бисер и хлопковое кружево - мое любимое зимнее сочетание

Bluebells and Cherry Blossoms Art Quilt

This quilt is based on my original landscape photograph from East Sussex. It is made out of hundreds of tiny fabric cutouts, stitched and free-motion embroidered.

 Foreground blossoms and leaves have been individually painted on silk and hand-stitched in place. 

The quilt is framed in a plain white painted wooden frame.

Vintage doilies/ Винтажное кружево

I have to admit that I love lacy doilies. As a matter of fact, I love lace in any form!
I think that showing off these two vintage finds was the main reason for designing my cushion covers in the first place.
Совсем недавно я вдруг пришла к выводу, что кружево всегда было моим любимым из всех материалов. Мои сегодняшние подушки - это повод подарить "вторую жизнь" этим двум винтажным находкам.

I reworked each doily into my design as a centrepiece, then trapuntoed the rest.
Дизайн стежки построен вокруг салфеток, использованных в качестве центрального элемента подушки. Имитация трапунто вышивальными нитками.

These was a time when small lacy throws always sat on top of cushions to decorate my grandparents' bed. Maybe that is why I find that cushions and lace go so perfectly well together!
Я все еще помню как мои бабушки накрывали подушки кружевными накидками, заправляя утром кровати. Может быть, поэтому мне так уютно рядом с этими подушками?

My Victorian Gothic

This is another quilt inspired by the magnificent Victorian Gothic architecture of Oxford

The central medallion design is almost identical to the one of the flamboyant rose window of the Wesley Memorial Church in Oxford. I tried to capture its ornate tracery using trapunto elements against some dense free-motion quilting

Vintage Lace

It's time for the Blogger's Quilt Festival again!

My entry is this original design wholecloth quilt inspired by antique lace and Regency stonework. 

It is free-motion machine quilted using viscose embroidery thread. I used a combination of pearl white and french grey coloured threads to create an aged look here.

Trapunto is used for the "carved" elements:))

I am very pleased with how the backing has turned out - the silver thread makes it sparkle in the sunlight.

The quilt measures 22x23" or 57x58 cm. I used pure cotton fabrics and Heirloom 80/20 wadding. 

I thought that this quilt would look wonderful in a classical style interior, or against a piece of painted french style furniture.

Bluebell Walk

A carpet of bluebells is one of my favourite God's creations ever! I used a landscape photo (with a kind permission of the photographer) to help me design the layout.

I have chosen a"confetti" technique to convey the light and shadow play of the morning sun in the woods. With this technique, tiny pieces of fabrics are scattered on a batting, covered with tulle, and then quilted all over to hold the pieces in place. 

I also decided to add some free-motion embroidery to create depth and colour variation. Angelina fibres are used to represent the sunlight.

Quilt size 60 x 60 cm. 

 I found that a simple wooden frame suits this quilt best, so that it can be displayed like a painting.

Наконец-то оно готово - мое первое стеганное на машинке одеялко! Сборка простая - большие квадраты в шахматном порядке, акцент на стежку - особенно мне понравилось простегивать белые квадраты сердечками - такой "вкусный" пряничный узор получился :))
